Film: Pumzi is a Kenyan science fiction short film written and directed by Wanuri Kahiu. It was screened at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival as part of its New African Cinema program.

Oooh, this looks pretty fucking awesome. Also, scifi as a genre especially needs to get the fuck over it’s whitewashing. If it’s set in a utopian (or dystopian) future with a unified planetary society (or even if not), why the fuck is 80% of the cast white and everyone is culturally Anglo except for like the token POC and token ‘ethnickyish’ white people.
